Dear Students,
Please be safe and know how very much I love and miss you all!! I wish I would have been able to say goodbye in person and hug you all one last time but your safety and well-being is not only my first priority but also that of our school system as well. I look forward to seeing you all around town when it is safe. I have been truly blessed to have had each of you in my class and I will never forget you!!
Love, Mrs. Maher XOXO <3
What you can do at home:
6th Grade (Q4):
Since I just met each of you and we only had a few classes together, you can practice the Latin Numbers 1-20. I am terribly sorry you did not have the chance to explore all 4 languages that are offered in Waynesboro City Schools. (Latin, Spanish, French & ASL) Maybe you will have the opportunity to take the 7th Grade World Languages class next year.
7th Grade(Semester 1):
I will leave your Mosaic Projects in my classroom from Semester 1. You can pick them up next school year if you would like. I will leave a note for the new teacher. I have so enjoyed being your teacher again this year!! I am so very proud of you all!!
7th Grade (Semester 2):
I am so very sorry that we did not get to complete our study of all the languages offered by Waynesboro City Schools. You can review everything we learned in Q3. I will leave your Spanish Color Poster Projects in my classroom. You can pick them up next school year if you would like to keep them. I will leave a note for the new teacher. I so loved being your teacher this year!! I am so very proud of all of you!!!
8th GRADE (HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT) SPANISH I STUDENTS:
On March 29th I put together a packet for each of you. It included a letter telling you exactly what was included and what you needed to do to earn high school credit for my class. I enclosed all the handouts you would have received if we had done Chapter 5 together. Just look over Chapter 5, try the "Supersite" - the "Supersite" grade for Chapter 5 will NOT count! Just practice it. (Due Date: Friday, 5/15) (Remember go to vhlcentral.com) I also enclosed the review worksheets that I would have passed out before our Final Exam. Complete the Mad Minutes and the Open Notes Quiz to review everything you learned. Finally, the last page of the packet was the direction sheet for our project in Spanish - PEN PAL LETTER. This MUST be completed, corrected and the final corrected copy sent to me by email by: MONDAY, MAY 11TH!!!! I am available to work with you. You can call, text or Face time me. I gave your parents my personal cell phone number.
Once you have completed and turned in your final copy of your Pen Pal Letter, you MUST review everything we learned in Chapters 1-4. Review old tests and quizzes. Look over the "Supersite". You should have access to the Supersite until July. Review all vocabulary and grammar concepts learned. You will be responsible for everything we learned in Chapters 1-4. Since the year ended earlier - PLEASE review so you will be successful next year in Spanish II.
I could not have been more blessed to have each of you in my class this year. For some we have been together all three years! You all have been extremely well-behaved, very respectful and an absolute joy to teach!! I will miss you with all my heart! Just remember to keep working hard and always try your best and you will surely reach any goal you set!!!!
